The President's Corner

The Tantallon South Civic Association enjoyed a 3 month Summer break. We did get out in August and march/chant our "Stomp out Crime-message" in the streets of our neighborhoods for National Night Out's joint civic association function. The march ended at the Potomac Landing Elementary School where we held a forum with PG Police Department Commissioner- Major Harper. It was a successful event that our members want to do again (and will be upheld through Neighborhood Watch committees).

We're back in full motion now!

In September, we ushered in the new school year by bringing out a speaker from the U.S Department of Education to give us information on student loan programs. It was very insightful. I will put out the pamphlets at our next meeting. I urge you to come out on Columbus Day holiday and learn about the Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Act 2011! This initative is already in motion by Governor Martin O'Malley and it effects Maryland residents as they seek to develop alternative energy sources. A speaker from the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, will share facts about this plan on Monday, October 10th, 2011 @ 7:30pm, Potomac Landing Elementary School (cafeteria). See the fact sheet about this Act on this website for more information.

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer, and you are well rested to take on some work to improve our Association so it can function as a resourceful organization and uphold our mission to promote the general welfare of the community! It takes only a few to make a difference, but a whole bunch to make an impact! Do your part, and become an active member of the Tantallon South Civic Association (TSCA).
